In an effort to stay connected to those who we love, but cannot see regularly, I have decided to do what I never thought I would – start a blog. I never really thought any of my random mental ramblings would be of much interest to anyone outside my family, but the reality is, in absence of polite in person conversation. . . it’s the best I’ve got folks. I know I won’t be disiciplined enough to email everyone on a regular enough basis to maintain relationships in a satisfactory manner, so if I type my mental ramblings into electronic oblivion, perhaps those who we love will “tune in” from time to time – and even write back. On the downside, I really have no idea what I’m doing, so I beg your patience as I begin YET ANOTHER learning curve. REMEMBER: YOU CAN CHECK OTHER POSTS BY ACCESSING: FROMTHEBURROW.WORDPRESS.COM
Hurray, Mrs. Ray!
I will surely be an avid “tune in”-er…as I am one who loves you and your family.
John
Congrats! and welcome to the internet
Hope everyone is doing great… and thanks for sending us Hanna
Love, Scot
Yay you! And, because we’ll get to keep up on everything, yay us!
For what it’s worth, both Grace’s and my blog are on WordPress and we know our way around the platform really well. Sooooo…
* If you need a hand, ask; and
* If you ever want to move off off WordPress.com and host the blog on your own domain (fromtheburrow.com is available!), we’d host it at no charge.
Love to the whole mess o’ you…
Greg
Hi Denise–We just got back from France–eating and wine tasting through several cities. We began in Reims for Champagne-Mums and Piper-scheideck?, then to Beaune for Beaujolais-the most interesting tour of the whole time, then a long drive to Sete to go to the Mediterranean, the up to Riberac to meet up with friends for 4 days-lots of eating and drinking!, then up to Paris. We spent one of our days driving up to Giverney for Monet’s Gardens and one day on a bus tour as Lynn’s brother Ed and Ranes had never been to Paris before. What a great trip!! Ed set up all the wine tastings as he is a regional distributor out of Sacramento, and I set up all the hotels. Lynn managed the flights and car. It was a trip that provided the longest time the two brothers ever spent together. They are 18 years apart, so had totally different childhoods. Kinda special.
How are you guys doing up in Vast Alaska???
tell me your stories.
Love, Aunt Shan
John and I miss you all very much, we’re looking forward to having you at our wedding in 2 weeks
Thanks for doing a bloggy, now we all can see how you’ll are doing…that’s important to us! John and I hope to get up to Alaska fairly shortly after the wedding. Hope all is well with you all, our thoughts are prayers are with you always…..
Lots of Love and several big hugs
xoxo
I think that’s a great idea! I’m glad you figured out some way to stay in touch without actually staying within reach of touch… if that makes any sense. =) Anyways, I hope you like your new home and I’m looking forward to seeing you for my wedding. Less than two weeks away now…. See you soon!
Hi Denise!
Well, you are one step up on me; I would not even know where to begin in creating a blog! But thank you for writing! How are you adjusting to Alaska? Amazingly beautiful isn’t it? This is your Autumn, one of my favorite times of the year there, albeit too short! Are you living there in the community around the Church? I lived on Monastary Road and walked to Church; something I really missed after returning home here. I heard you will be teaching at the school there; correct? How many students will you have? What grade level? How is Brad and the kids doing? Say hello to all, and we greatly miss you!
Love,
Cathy Sotier (George too!)
Exxxcellent! Well, first off: hooray! I think it’s a GREAT way to only have to say things one time. I love writing e-mails but even with multiple addressees, it gets a little old.
Second, you’d be surprised about how interesting the “uninteresting” news can be. I’d love to hear what all the Ray clan are up to in the land of the Midnight Sun.
Wow there really are folks out there in cyberspace!!! I love you all and now have confidence that it won’t be a futile endeavor to pursue.
Denise,
You can do it! We all have confidence in you!
Tell Bethany that Mary and Andrew are going to help Steve McMeans interview John Granger for “The Illumined Heart” radio program. (It will be a phone interview). John wrote “The Hidden Key to Harry Potter”. He is Orthodox and one of the few people to point out all the Christian “Inkling” type symbolism that JK Rowling uses. It’s actually quite a fascinating book – I loved it. We’ll let you know when that specific show will air – do you listen to Ancient Faith Radio? (It’s online, just google it.) We LOVED the new HP book and movie and thought of you in “The Burrow”.
It’s fun having Hannah back for a little while!
Stay in touch,
WENDY
Well – go figure – my eyes are wet for some reason???? So good to see your voice:) Lots of hugs and kisses stored up for when you come down – heard it’s on Fri so we will miss you at the rehersal and dinner (Thur nite). Oh, did I mention I love you and yours? Marilyn
Looking forward to hearing about how much you want to move back, and sooooo soon too! That can be arranged – (Just leave me with my imagination till you arrive. – The truth will come soon enough.)
Glad you started a blog. I found out that people sometimes write about stuff they wouldn’t talk about at coffee hour! It’s fun when you have time for it.
John has a couple questions for you….how far is Alaska from here and is it dark right now? (I could answer, but thought it might be fun to hear from you.) John also wants you to know that we are typing at 12:30 pm.
How did your trip go? Had any adventures in the wilderness yet?
Hi Denise,
I love how you put it yet another thing to learn. Everyday is a learning curve for me. Ug! Glad to know I am among friends that find the computer a bit of a challenge. I knew I liked you for a reason. I just hope this gets to you without me having a web site! I need a what? If I don’t see any results I will email you.
Lovingly,
Debbie Mariano
Denise,
I’ll tune in from time to time. Good to see so many familiar names here….
MarilynJ: Is the rehearsal dinner on Thurs, or Friday?? Hmmm, maybe you should call me?
Denise:
Since I now have the pleasure of seeing you in person on a regular basis here in the great north, does that mean I am excused from checking your blog regularly? Please advise.
Thanks.
–MH
Yes, Matthew, you are excused; however, your smart alecky remarks rather spice up my blog and I think would be generally missed by most readers. So use discretion in abandoning further burrow excursions.
Signed,
The Management
In the August 4th-10th issue of The Economist, there is an interesting article, “Investigating Alaska.” It’s only a page long. Perhaps one of the boys will be inspired to go into politics. How about that as an alternative to working in public education?
Hi Ray Family,
Great to hear from you, and glad that we’ll be able to keep up with what you and your family are doing. Looking forward to seeing you,Brad and Meghan soon. Send pictures of your neighborhood and adventures!
Nancy
Greetings to you Denise, Brad and Kids!
1st let me say how wonderful it is that you included us on your mailing. Max and Gordie will be so happy to be able to keep up with Na-than and Isaiah. My question is….So did the girls decide to stay behind in CA?
Anyway, I’m going to pass along your blog site to the boys so that they can stay in touch with your guys. We know that Alaska just became a lot better place to live since you folks moved there!
All our love to you from down here in Flower Mound.
Jeff, Max and The G-Man
Yay another fellow blogger. Thank you for putting so much effort into staying in touch with us. I miss you every Sunday!
It’s nice “borrowing” Hannah for awhile.
